On November the seventh 2013 .Mr. Ole Hoyer The chairman of Periamma organization and others board ,Together with Mrs. Josephine Tepsena the coordinator of organization in Surin. came to visit Bankapra school. Surin Province,Thailand.To pursuance the implementation of project that organizations support. In this regard they deliver school supplies , Lunch and snacks , played game and played football with the students and visit the classroom.

Erewhile, on 20 August 2013 , Mr. Carsten Carlstedt who is the coordinator of the organization have already visited the school.

นครวัด : อัญมณีแห่งจักรวรรดิกัมพูชา

Angkor Wat “ The Jewel of the Khmer Empire.

อาณาจักรเขมร เป็นรัฐที่เรืองอำนาจในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ สร้างขึ้นโดยกษัตริย์ชัยวรมันที่ 2 ในปีคริสต์ศักราช 802 โดยพระองค์ประกาศอิสรภาพจากอาณาจักรศรีวิชัย หลังจากที่อาณาจักรศรีวิชัยเริ่มเสื่อมอำนาจและล่มสลายลงในศตวรรษที่ 13 ภายใต้ความกดดันของจักรวรรดิมชปาฮิต หลังจากที่ปราบปรามและเอาชนะบางส่วนของกัมพูชา ลาว และเวียดนามแล้ว

พระเจ้าชัยวรมันที่ 2 ทรงก่อตั้งเมืองหลวงใหม่ที่ หริหราลัย ภายหลังเป็นที่รู้จักกัน
ในนาม อังกอร์ ซึ่งอยู่ทางตอนเหนือของทะเลสาบโตนเลสาบ พระเจ้าชัยวรมันที่ 2 ประกาศตนเองเป็นจักรพรรดิ และปราบดาภิเษกเป็นพระมหากษัตริย์ของราชอาณาจักรกัมพูเจีย

นครวัด ตั้งอยู่ 5.5 กิโลเมตร (3.4 ไมล์) ทางตอนเหนือของเมืองเสียมเรียบและด้านทางทิศใต้เยื้องทิศตะวันออกเล็กน้อยของเมืองหลวงเดิม ซึ่งมีศูนย์กลางที่บาปวนศูนย์กลางแหล่งประวัติศาสตร์

ในปัจจุบันชื่ออย่างเป็นทางการคือ นครวัด "เมืองเจดีย์" ซึ่งไม่เพียงแต่จะแสดงถึงความยิ่งใหญ่อลังการและความภาคภูมิของสิ่งก่อสร้างที่มีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดและสูงส่งเลิศเลอในบรรดาปราสาทขอมทั้งหมดเท่านั้น

นครวัด ยังมีฐานะเป็นทั้งเมืองหลวงและศาสนสถานประจำรัชกาลของพระเจ้าสุริยวรมันที่ 2 ที่สร้างอุทิศถวายแก่พระวิษณุ

อังกอร์วัด หมายถึง "นครวัด" หรือ "เมืองแห่งวัด" ในภาษาเขมร; อังกอร์, มีความหมายว่า "เมือง" หรือ "เมืองหลวง" เป็นรูปแบบภาษาท้องถิ่นของคำว่า นอคอร์ ซึ่งมาจากคำภาษาสันสกฤต ว่า นครา (नगर ) วัด เป็นคำเขมร หมายถึง "บริเวณวัด" รับมาจากคำภาษาบาลีว่า "วัตตะ" (वत्त) ก่อนหน้านี้ นครวัดเป็นที่รู้จักในนาม พระวิษณุโลก (Vara Vishnuloka ในภาษาสันสกฤต) ซึ่งเป็นชื่อของผู้ก่อสร้างหลังจากสวรรคต

นครวัด ถูกสร้างขึ้นโดย พระเจ้าสุริยวรมันที่ 2 ราว คริสต์ศักราช 1113-1150 เป็นที่ประดิษฐานของพระวิษณุ ทรงนับถือพระวิษณุหรือพระนารายณ์เป็นเทพเจ้าสูงสุดนั่นคือทรงเชื่อว่า หลังจากสวรรคตแล้ว ดวงวิญญาณของพระองค์จะหลอมรวมเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกับวิษณุเทพ พระองค์จึงสร้างมหาปราสาทนครวัดขึ้นอย่างใหญ่โตโอฬาร เพื่อแสดงถึงความทะเยอทะยานอย่างสูงสุดในอันที่จะแสดงความบูชาคารวะแด่เทพวิษณุ มหาปราสาทนครวัดในสมัยนั้นก็ถูกเรียกว่า “พระวิษณุโลก” ก่อนจะถูกเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น“นครวัด” ในกาลต่อมา

รูปแบบการสร้างนครวัด เต็มไปด้วยการแสดงออกทางสัญลักษณ์ของศาสนาฮินดู ตามตำนาน คูเมืองหมายถึงมหาสมุทรล้อมรอบโลก ระเบียงคตสื่อความถึงภูเขาที่ล้อมรอบเขาพระสุเมรุ หอคอยหมายถึงยอดสูงสุดของเขาพระสุเมรุ ซึ่งเป็นที่ประทับของเทพเจ้า

ในปีคริสต์ศักราช 1177 หลังจากการสวรรคตของพระเจ้าสุริยวรมันที่ 2 ประมาณ 27 ปี นครวัดถูกชนชาติจามซึ่งเป็นศัตรูดั้งเดิมของเขมรรุกราน และเขมรพ่ายแพ้ หลังจากนั้นอาณาจักรนครวัดได้รับการบูรณะโดยกษัตริย์องค์ใหม่ คือพระเจ้าชัยวรมันที่ 7 ที่ตั้งนครธมเป็นเมืองหลวงแห่งใหม่ ห่างออกจากนครวัดไม่กี่กิโลเมตรไปทางทิศเหนือ

ในศตวรรษที่ 13 นครวัดค่อยๆเปลี่ยนรูปแบบการนับถือศาสนาจากศาสนาฮินดูมาเป็นพุทธศาสนาแบบเถรวาท จนถึงปัจจุบัน

The Khmer empire was a powerful state in South East Asia, formed by king Jayavarman II in 802 AD. He declared independence from the Srivijaya Empire and conquered parts of Kampuchea, Laos and Vietnam. The Srivijaya Empire started declining from that point and collapsed in the 13th century under pressure of the Majapahit Empire. Jayavarman established his capital Hariharalaya, later known as Angkor, north of the lake Tonlé Sap. Jayavarman was declared Chakravartin (king of the world) and was crowned King of the Kingdom of Kambujadesa.¹

Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat lies 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi) north of the modern town of Siem Reap, and a short distance south and slightly east of the previous capital, which was centred at Baphuon. It is in an area of Cambodia where there is an important group of ancient structures. It is the southernmost of Angkor's main sites.The modern name of a temple is completely justified . Angkor Wat, “The city pagoda “ was not only the grandest and most sublime of all the Khmer temple, but also a city in its own right.²

Angkor Wat, means "Temple City" or "City of Temples" in Khmer; Angkor, meaning "city" or "capital city", is a vernacular form of the word nokor , which comes from the Sanskrit word nagara (नगर). Wat is the Khmer word for "temple grounds", derived from the Pali word "vatta" (वत्त). Prior to this time the temple was known as Preah Pisnulok (Vara Vishnuloka in Sanskrit), after the posthumous title of its founder. ³

Angkor Wat, Built by Suryavarman II from 1113 to 1150 as known in ancient times as Brah Vishnu-lok or Varah Vishnu-lok, ‘The Sacred Abode of Vishnu’ was dedicate to the second deity of the Trimurti, which whom Suryavarman II identified himself. Indeed , upon his death, the great ruler was given the posthumous name of Paramavishulok, He who has entered the paradise of the supreme Vishnu, and temple became his mausoleum.⁴

The scale of Angkor Wat enabled the Khmer to give full expression to religious symbolism. It is, above all else, a microcosm of the Hindu universe, The moat represents the mythical ocean surrounding the earth and the succession of concentric galleries represents the mountain ranges, that surround mouth Meru, the home of the gods, The towers represents the mountain’s peaks, and the experience of the ascent to the central shrine is, maybe intentionally, a fairy convincing imitation of climbing a real mountain.⁵

In 1177, approximately 27 years after the death of Suryavarman II, Angkor was sacked by the Chams, the traditional enemies of the Khmer. Thereafter the empire was restored by a new king, Jayavarman VII, who established a new capital and state temple (Angkor Thom and the Bayon respectively) a few kilometres to the north.

In the late 13th century, Angkor Wat gradually moved from Hindu to Theravada Buddhist use, which continues to the present day. Angkor Wat is unusual among the Angkor temples in that although it was somewhat neglected after the 16th century it was never completely abandoned, its preservation being due in part to the fact that its moat also provided some protection from encroachment by the jungle.⁶
In as much as, The Angkor Wat proper combines two major features of khmer architecture : a pyramid and concentric galleries. exemplars of Khmer architecture, are closely linked to their geographical context as well as being imbued with symbolic significance, bear witness to a high level of social order and ranking within the Khmer Empire. Therefore,Angkor Wat is a major site exemplifying cultural, religious and symbolic values, as well as containing high architectural, archaeological and artistic significance.
